Matthew Swanson

Bio

Raised in the damp of the Pacific Northwest, Matthew Swanson left his quiet coastal enclave as a young man to attend film school in Montreal. After graduating, his short film “Hiro” premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival before going on to win a number of awards, including Best Short at SXSW.

Since then Matthew has directed all kinds of things with all kinds of people, including award-winning campaigns for Spotify, Google, HBO, Snickers and Little Caesar’s.

While Matthew enjoys directing, his true passion is singing, which, unfortunately, he is terrible at. Perhaps the single silver lining of the 2020 global pandemic is the fact that Karaoke bars remain closed, thus sparing his friends and collaborators from unlistenable renditions of D’Angelo, Frank Ocean, and, on one egregious occasion, Wuthering Heights by Kate Bush.
